[Perhaps normally Rebekah would be commenting on the craziness of the day before and the rollecoaster her emotions and went on (she's always fallen in love easily, but that was ridiculous) -- but not so much now.

She went to the kiosk to confirm what she had already been worried about. And then she went back to the apartment and she's sitting in what was Quinn's room -- which can be seen as rather trashed in the background.

Someone had a bit of a shit fit.

The message itself is short.]

Quinn Fabray is no longer here with us.

[And then the feed cuts. That's it.]

Action

[Later she leaves again and makes her way to The Blood Shack where she'll be spending the rest of the evening trying to drown her sorrows in glasses of alcohol. Quinn had been her friend -- the first real one she had had in a long, long time. She had tried so hard to keep her safe, even vervaining her behind Niklaus' back -- and she's gone anyways.

So much for that. She forgot the risk that came with caring.]

[ she hears the sarcasm, and she more than understands it. ric's gone, so is jenna; elena hadn't even bothered approaching the kiosk about it, knowing that answer doesn't help. the wardens help even less.

elena's not holding her breath for anyone's return either. (but the truth is elena couldn't regret getting close to anyone. she suspects rebekah reacts to loss a bit differently.) ]

So what are you going to do?

[Isn't that the million dollar question.

Rebekah doesn't know the answer yet. Does she withdraw from her other friends to prevent further pain, does she push forward? Does she give the leftover vervain to Euphie in a further stance against her brother? What does she do?

She doesn't know.

What she wants is to hurt someone. To make someone hurt like she's hurting right now. To rip, to tear to bathe in blood just so she feels something other than hurt. But the only person she has to blame are the wardens -- and they don't bleed.

Finally, she settles on something:]

Right now? I'm going to get a drink.

[ she can translate, and even if she couldn't, she would be surprised and confused and inexplicably satisfied anyway. mostly, she can't translate (or doesn't want to acknowledge) her own motivations, and now suddenly going out for a drink with her frenemy is actually a real possibility. (she thinks of how they shopped together for a moment, too.) a smile pulls at her lips; it's sardonic and genuine. ] Where do you want to meet?

[ best not. elena doesn't think of it (or tries not to) as she nods and says a quick "see you there", or as she gets ready, pulls on her jacket, and strolls to the blood shack.

she's been here a few times - for caroline's parties and events, to meet stefan to talk... usually not during the day, and not to drink. she pulls in a breath and and expels it heavily as she enters the establishment.

it's not hard to spot rebekah's shock of blonde hair at the bar. elena approaches, starts to slip off her jacket in front of a stool next to her. ] So what's our poison? [ she's referring to the glass rebekah has in front of her. ]

[Rebekah's been here a few times now, sometimes to drink (and not always just alcohol), sometimes for other social events. Usually not during the day but there's a first time for everything, isn't there?

She'd recognize that face anywhere (and can tell the subtle differences between Elena and the other girls who have worn it) as soon as she entered the bar.

She holds up her half empty glass.]

[ they are here, and it's not something elena truly wants to address right now. she looks from rebekah to the glass in her hands, thinks about brothers and loss, and lifts it to her lips to gulp most of it down. it chokes her throat; she nearly sputters and coughs, but manages only a grunt instead.

the last time she had scotch was... the night stefan tore into her throat. it's a flicker of a memory she doesn't linger on.

she's not going to say she's sorry quinn is gone, because a part of her isn't. stabilizer or not, at least klaus can't hurt her or mold her to his will, but she does feel plenty. no one like quinn deserves to be taken against her will. and if there was any doubt rebekah valued quinn as a person, she realizes it's been thrown into shade since rebekah asked for vervain.

she believes rebekah is capable of that among plenty else, capable of goodness and trust. the problem is she has always counted on that for her own reasons.

she hesitates to say what occurs to her, realizes there's no up or down or clear strategy about it. but: ] Ric's gone. So's Jenna. [ she looks sidelong at rebekah, her expression blank. she's not looking for sympathy. she feels some resentment she doesn't show and knows better not to entertain; ric and jenna, who she lost because of rebekah's family. who she still has, here. ] I guess we both have something to drink about.

[Rebekah's rather glad Elena doesn't address it, at least for now (though honestly she's okay with never addressing what exactly it might mean that they are here drinking together -- almost like friends, or at least people who doesn't supposedly despise one another).

There's a part of Rebekah that can acknowledge Quinn's better off not here. She's better off at home where she can see her daughter -- where she can live her life safely away from Niklaus or Kol or anyone else who might take advantage of her trusting nature (Rebekah herself had manipulated it when asking Quinn if she would live them without fully explaining things, she knows that). But a bigger part of her just selfishly doesn't care. She would have kept her around anyways, given the choice.

There's a pause at Elena's words and she drains the rest of her glass, signaling to the bot she'd like another one.]

I guess we do.

[It's the most she can say. Jenna is dead because of her brother, Ric is dead because of her (that she'll never apologize for, for killing Elena in the process to protect her family). Sometimes this place feels cruel in the arbitrary ways it seems to decide who will come or who will leave.]
