day 176 [video / voice];
[someone sure is in the hospital, maybe for the day. his head is wrapped up tight in gauze, but he otherwise looks okay. his index and middle finger on his right hand are also splinted, for now.]

...For anyone who had to see what happened yesterday: I'm okay—no one needed to see that broadcast. Sorry to those of you who had to see it, and...thanks to those of you who did whatever you did to bring me to the hospital... I'm sorry to have troubled you.

but Rion's voice is still there. this is only apparent after a second or two of silence.]

I won't forget what you did.

People ate things like rice and vegetables, but the quality was always so dubious—so I never liked them. My parents had me take supplements a lot, and I don't think that's too weird... Probably a lot of people got their nutrients that way.

Fish was also something people ate, but unless you were wealthy, it was better not to have it because you would get sick. The fish was either poisoned or near rotting.

[at which Rion takes a grateful mouthful of the salmon. he may be skinny, but he's definitely the picture of a healthy boy in his world.]

I mean! You aren't that short or anything! You'll probably catch up since there's a lot of good food available here!

That's really scary about the fish, though. Sometimes when we would kill monsters, we'd harvest meat that was very... sketchy. Like non-chicken animals would have meat that was sort of like chicken, but it was never any good. Sometimes Natalia would use it to cook by accident, though... [he pales a little in remembering this]

[Rion's lip awkwardly twists a little in an almost-smile, and he hides it behind his hand as he looks away, stifling the expression. Luke's apologetic behavior regarding something like being short is pretty funny to Rion, because though he's never really thought about it, he doesn't care.

he recovers back to his poker-face, only looking back towards Luke about half-way through what he's saying.]

You could say that about all of our food, then. Quality wise, unless you were rich, it was "sketchy." And compared to this...

Well, what I thought was "delicious" was actually just "clean and edible".

[THIS, however—this is delicious. Rion eyes a lemon curiously and tears it in half with his fork, tearing out the pulp of it and eating it with his next bite of salmon.]

Ugh... That's so depressing. [he spears meat and potato and takes it with his wine. He finished his glass, and it is refilled immediately as his last of the night.]

[Luke searches for the next thing to say, every idea that comes to him as sad as the last. He want to talk about home, but it might not be pleasant for Rion. Especially since the other one is also a replica of sorts. He recovers, just thinking of the basics]

So- What do you like to do for fun?

I don't know... I usually spend time with my best friend, Lilia; I'm not too used to entertaining myself, I guess. We did everything together.

[Rion tries more of the wine. it's not bad, directly following the fish, but it's still too bitter for him to really appreciate it. he has another sip anyway, chasing the last.]

...I guess I liked to read, and I'd sometimes watch movies.

	I'm not any good at entertaining myself either. If I have nothing to do, I guess I just lay around and be bored, or practice with my sword. But that's no fun without a companion. I spent most of my time growing up with my best friend[and servant], Guy. I'm not very good at reading, either. Movies, though? [Luke looks very interested!] What are those? ...Oh. You know, films. [and in case you DON'T know:]

They're kind of like plays, I guess, but they're uploaded onto discs, or they're playable files.

[wow Rion you suck at epxlaining things]

Actors and actresses get together with directors and—a ton of other people, and they perform and record a production which is then released for the public to watch.

But...most movies I've watched were really old, because movie production is impractically expensive and just wasn't feasible anymore in my era, for the most part.

[Rion just doesn't think about the fact that he's never seen a movie in his life. whatever, Original Rion did, and Rion had his memories, so suck it]

[Rion puts his wine glass down very slowly (motor skills are hard for some reason), and then takes more ~~dainty~~ bites of his salmon.

he lifts his head when Luke asks about doing anything else. already, this feels like so much. no matter, though. Rion wipes his mouth.]

...It's not that I'm not having a good time, but I'm actually banned from anything the wardens consider to be a fun activity.

I wonder if we should even be spending time together, thinking about it.

[well, resting in the shelter probably isn't very condusive to recovery... and the hospital just brings back too many bad memories. Rion considers, pushing around some salmon with his fork before he thoughtfully pops a bite in his mouth.

Are you sure? Isn't inviting a stranger into your home dangerous—? I'm a dangerous artificial life form, who you barely know...

[as Luke talks, he finishes another bite or two of the salmon—he's full, honestly, and he was a little while ago, but it's just so tasty uuguhgh

he washes it down with a small, slow sip of wine, swallows in a pause, then responds.]

...I...I guess so—? It'd be nice to be somewhere less cluttered for a night, especially since I'm still injured.
