"Understandable that you should miss something that you spent most of your life ingratiated in. They do function with a certain cohesiveness that, under the right circumstances, could even be considered calming." Even given his distaste for the Borg, he can admit that the idea of everyone speaking in one voice with no differing of opinions or ideals could be, in a way, peaceful... and much, much simpler. Being a drone was an easy path, knowing exactly what your function was and putting said function into action with little to no question in regards to right or wrong.
"I'm reminded of a poem by one Robert Frost. The most quotable of phrases from the poem : 'Two roads diverged in a wood and I, I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.'" Normally, Jean-Luc was a lover of the classics, but he did know his literature well in all forms. "As a former drone, you and I, Seven, are on the road less traveled. And as you have found and will no doubt continue to find, the difficulty of the more obscure path aside, it does make all the difference."
He pauses. "While our experiences with the Borg differ in many ways, you are not on that road alone. We are on it together."
