[She can't help but wince as he crumbles, as he berates himself for something that's really not his-- no one's fault. But if it's no one's fault, where should they look for this horribly wrong situation? How can it be fixed? Again, she doesn't have an answer.
Her hands are empty now, but she wishes they weren't so she could... reassure him somehow of something, maybe that she's here for him even if it's not in the way he expected. Instead they just curl up into tight fists, probably to help keep the lid on her emotions]
