[ Day 203 | Open Video / Action | 4 ]
[ Evening, MarinaNova! Ferris Bueller is all up on your network, smiling brightly at you all. Happen to notice where he is? It's the arcade, this time. ]

You know, I'm a pretty strong believer in joy shared being amplified. If you enjoy doing something, you should share that enjoyment; it's infectious, people are happy when they see other people happy - that goes from your happiness, to inspire others' happiness, and then theirs comes right back to you. Therefore if you're having fun, other people will have fun with you, and in turn you'll all be having a better time. It's true for most people, at least, and I'll grant you that it can depend on the activity. But here is a perfect example.

[ And he gestures widely, to the facility's version of DDR, where he and his victim companion, one Xander Harris, are just about to tear it up. ]

I've gotten acquainted with this machine since I wound up here, and I can tell you, from a completely unbiased perspective, it's fun to play, it's fun to watch other people play, and it's definitely most fun when you've got a number of people to trade off those activities. The secret is, you just can't care if you look ridiculous - to that end, I'm completely ready and willing to look ridiculous alongside anyone. Starting with my friend here.

[ And he steps up onto the machine, trusting - perhaps hoping - that Xander will follow. He's getting up there somehow, but it'd be easiest if he just followed Ferris. ]

So you know, you can consider that an invitation.

[ And here Xander speaks up, ]

You're not going to record us doing this, are you?

[ Brows arched, Ferris glances to Xander, then looks back toward the camera and, with one last grin, he mercifully cuts off the feed. ]

[ ooc: open to action at the arcade!!! ]

Wise words indeed. I don't believe I've heard better. So what exactly is this game you're referring to? I'm afraid I'm rather unfamiliar with a large majority of the ones at the arcade.

[ He beams at the feedback and gives a gracious incline of his head. ] Why, thank you.

[ And glancing to the game in question, ]

It's a dancing game. Where I come from, we've got some electronic games, but none that are quite like this. It's got a platform you stand on, with arrows, and it plays music and tells you where to step. Took a little while to get used to it, but I have to say, it is an entertaining way to spend a couple of hours.

So it teaches you to dance?

That certainly would come in handy, but I have been told it's much better to learn with a partner. Assuming the right one comes along of course. I must admit though... that platform hardly looks big enough for the dances I'm rather used to. [ and certainly not for something as energetic as swing or the lindy hop. ]

What dances does it teach you?

[ He sort of laughs there. ]

Well, I'm not sure I'd exactly put it that way. It doesn't really teach so as much as it, ah... tests your reflexes, I guess. You'd definitely be much better served learning with a partner.

That is, unless moving your feet into four pre-determined spots counts as some kind of dance I'm not familiar with.

[ oh ]

So it isn't educational? I suppose more games would be more enjoyable if one could pretend that they weren't.

[ although that would negate the point of creating such a game in the first place. Highly inefficient, but that was neither here nor there. ]

Afraid not. Though, I'd say there's some value to the coordination developed?

That, and I can't say I think there's much harm in just having some fun.

And for keeping one on one's toes I would imagine.

[ she nodded ] And you do have a point. I wish you all the fun you can handle, Mr. Bueller. and to your friend as well.

[ and perhaps, later, she will attempt this strange game. ]

Why, thank you very much. I'll be personally seeing to it that he has fun.

[ Grin. ] And, if you'd like to give it a shot, I'd be more than happy to show you how it works sometime, too.

I may take you up on that. I always did prefer to stay active whenever I had the chance.

[ she nodded her head ]

Good day to you then, and perhaps I shall see you later.
