[ like her. what's wedging between them is her. she gets what sookie's not sugarcoating, and she knows what she's saying. that's not exactly - or only - what she's worried about, and she's not objecting to any of it. she wants stefan to see his brother. she wants damon to see stefan, too. after everything they've been through, more than anything, she wants them to have each other. (she wants to have them. for them to have her.)
elena doesn't say she doesn't want to get between them. she doesn't feel like she has to: to express that, or justify her feelings and desires here. ] Stefan said... when I told him things were different; that I was different, he acted like. Like Damon stole me... [ she shakes her head some. ] or like it was his fault. Like he lost me. [ and didn't he? like a thing. she knows stefan couldn't have meant it that way; how could he?
