Day 196 {Anger Management Therapy Group} [Action|Open]
[ Inmates will be asked to come to Trois Park for Therapy.
Introduction
We all know what anger is, and we've all felt it: whether as a fleeting annoyance or as full-fledged rage.
Anger is a completely normal, usually healthy, human emotion. But when it gets out of control and turns destructive, it can lead to problems—problems at work, in your personal relationships, and in the overall quality of your life. And it can make you feel as though you're at the mercy of an unpredictable and powerful emotion. This brochure is meant to help you understand and control anger.
There is more detailed information inside like This
Research has found that "letting it rip" with anger actually escalates anger and aggression and does nothing to help you (or the person you're angry with) resolve the situation.
It's best to find out what it is that triggers your anger, and then to develop strategies to keep those triggers from tipping you over the edge.
Here's where the talking comes in…
1. Do you know your triggers? What are they? Why?
2. How do you deal with anger?
Various strategies will be described here and asked to be tested including but not limited to Relaxation Exercises and Cognitive Restructuring. See also This
There will also be discussion about the difference between Assertiveness and Aggression and emphasis on how to be Assertive, training the overly angry inmates in ways to keep from getting Aggressive in their Assertiveness to promote healthy problem solving!
Inmates will be taught Tai Chi and encouraged to meditate at the end. Tea and other calming liquids will be available!]
((ooc: Likewise, feel free to thread-hop and otherwise mingle as you please with this. Open up discussions, have your characters talk about things, ask questions of the group, IDK have fun!))
