[ shirley's first thought is- well, to be honest, it's not really anything wonderfully kind. painwheel looks less like anyone she's ever met and more like a halloween costume, all makeup and masks and black decay, so it's really only natural that her mind goes off in that direction. but it's a single thought, and immediately after she feels guilty for it. this is clearly another person, the same as anyone else, and if this place can bring in aliens without a second thought - well, maybe that's just how things are around here. everyone deserves a chance, right?
when she snaps on the video, she's got a reassuring smile - the same she'd give to anyone new and worried. ]
