Pursing her lips, Jane wondered how to answer Chris' question about where she was from. Normally when asked a question the first thing that came to Jane's mind was the first thing that came out of her mouth but when it came to talking about home, Jane had been watching her words. She had no idea if her grandmother had reported the theft and though Jane knew it would hardly make the news, she was nervous talking about home.
Nervous and feeling somewhat guilty.
She made a show of snorting, "Oh nowhere important, just a little spot a few hours away that's so dull and small it barely warrants being on a map". Or so Jane thought anyway. "I'm glad to be out of there as you can see". For her being in Cambridge was the start of a new chapter of life and hopefully marked the first stop on the road of many travels. That was her dream anyway, to travel the world and see as much as she could.
Sensing she could change the subject back to him and being eager to do so, Jane remarked, "A break, huh? From work?" That seemed like the logical assumption to Jane but she couldn't help adding with a smile, "Or just a break from the old routine? It is nice, I agree with you there but I'm hoping it's not too quiet. Not that there's anything wrong with quiet", she quickly amended since Chris seemed to like that aspect of life here. "But too quiet quiet can get boring real fast, trust me. My hometown use to specialize in it".
Since he had mentioned not living in the area before, Jane just had to ask, "So where are you from originally?"
