WHO: Nick and OTA (Multiples welcomed!) WHAT: Random run in at a bar. WHERE: Upstairs at Durty Nelly's WHEN: Feb 4, evening. WARNINGS: Mentions of violence, gore and Nick'll swear at some point I’m sure.
The upstairs section of Durty Nelly’s was nicer than Nick had expected but it wasn’t nice scenery Nick was looking for tonight. He was looking for an escape and if that escape had fries and cheap beer then all the better. One thing Nick prided himself was keeping his cool but the last few nights had shaken the Russian born man. He hadn't been sleeping well since moving into Marchen Heights but a few nights ago the nightmares had begun. Confusing and frightening images Nick couldn’t explain. He was no stranger to nightmares, his line of work had given him plenty of nightmare fuel but these images were different. Bodies were eviscerated, there was blood splatter everywhere and it was not at all like the murders Nick had committed.
There were a few times when Nick had lost control. Beaten men bloody but he was never one for cutting them up. A couple of bullets or wrapping a rope around someone’s throat was his way of doing things. Quick and quiet was his preferred method, not ripping into them with his hands and teeth like in the nightmares. He took a sip of his beer as if washing away the imaginary taste of blood. Stop thinking about it. That’s why he had left the apartment building tonight and sought out this bar. A few drinks and a break from that place was just what Nick figured he needed. Getting away was easy but getting his mind off his new home was much harder.
Marchen Heights was a nice but there was something about the building that bothered him and his gut was telling it more than just the residents. However, they were bothersome enough on their own. Jane and Nadia ranked high on that list. The former was still a nagging mystery and the latter an unfortunate reunion. I'm not here to think about either of them, Nick thought with disgust and pushed both redheads out of his thoughts. It was hard to take his mind off of work but that's when booze was handy to have around. Nick chugged down the rest of his drink. He didn't empty it all the way and when Nick put it down roughly on the bar the remaining amber brew splashed against the glass. A few droplets hit Nick and more hit the person beside him. "Sorry about that", Nick apologized flatly before he waved over the bartender. "Can I get a refill here?"
