WHO: Jimmy & Nadia WHAT: Nadia's putting Jimmy to work WHERE: At Nadia's apartment WHEN: Jan 24th, evening. WARNINGS: Can't see it going beyond G, PG maybe for swearing.
Think positive, be positive. Easy to say but harder for Jimmy to feel as he looked over the Cyrillic lettering that covered most of the papers Nadia had provided. This job had proven to be more tricky than he imagined and once again Jimmy bemoaned the fact that he had undercharged the woman. On the bright side she had managed to translate it for him but Jimmy made a silent promise to himself to either a) never take on another job involving foreign languages or b) learn the language before he took on the job.
Language barrier aside, the paper work wasn't too confusing. He just hated looking at papers and not knowing what they said for himself. He couldn't but feel out of his depth because of this but from what Jimmy could figure, Nadia had about twenty grand waiting for her in a Russian bank courtesy of her mother or someone who knew her mother. It wasn't going to be much use to Nadia in Russia but what was even more concerning was that Nadia didn't seem to know where this money was coming from. That was where things got tricky because Jimmy couldn't tell her where or what the money was coming. There was no name attached to the deposits, just an acronym that told Jimmy absolutely nothing.
"It's like you've got a fairy godmother with deep pockets. You honestly have no idea who could be putting the money into the account?" His brow furrowed as he looked back the paper in front of him. From the dates and numbers someone was making regular deposits and Jimmy had a hard time believing Nadia didn't have a clue who was behind it. "Well, if you want to get access to the money you're going to have to go to your bank and look into transferring the funds but it would be a good idea to know where it's coming from before you touch it." Unfortunately Jimmy couldn't do much for her on that front. If it were in the states Jimmy had connections that could move the money without a paper trail but in Russia? That was way, way, waaaaay out of Jimmy's comfort zone.
Jimmy put down the paper, rubbed his eyes and looked back Nadia, "If you knew someone who could help you look into it, like some living relatives who might know more about your mom's financial situation, it could help figure out where it's coming from. Then again, maybe the old adage 'don't look a gift horse in the mouth' should be applied and you should just take the money and run with it". He paused, "I guess it depends on what you feel comfortable with".
