FOTR: discussion part 2 of 3

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING
Just a couple of quick announcements for this part: Please remember to put INDIVIDUALISM in the subject line.

INDIVIDUALISM
1. How does Gandalf's death affect each member of the Fellowship?

2. Where do you think Frodo finds his strength and the will to volunteer to be the ring bearer?

3. Aragorn is tormented by fears and is reluctant to accept his birthright. How does he grow into this role by the end of this movie?

4. How does Merry and Pippin's willingness to risk themselves show a maturing of both characters and how does it reflect the values we saw from them at the beginning?

5. Where does Arwen fit in our tale?

6. Does Boromir achieve redemption? Why or why not?

Extra Credit:
Who is your favorite character?

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING

Just a couple of quick announcements before we jump in:
a. Please remember to put FRIENDSHIP in the subject line.
b. This is 1 of 3 discussion posts, the other 2 will be up a little later.
c. Please feel free to jump into the discussion whenever you like, even if we're on a different marathon entirely.
d. If you want to just comment with some general thoughts about the topic FRIENDSHIP without benefit of the prompts. I'm here to listen. :)

FRIENDSHIP
1. Some members of the fellowship start off as friends. How do those relationships grow? How do they all start to fit together in groups and the fellowship as a whole? (ie Gimli and Legolas or Aragorn and Boromir or Boromir and the Hobbits) What are the catalysts for their growth?

2. Each member comes to Rivendell as an individual, with individual agendas. How does this change as the journey progresses?

3. What are your favorite friendships and why?

4. I've always been moved by the faith, belief, and respect that the members of the Fellowship form for one another. How are those tested throughout the journey? How do they grow?

HAVE FUN!

FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING

Remember to put REALMS & CREATURES on the subject line.

REALMS & CREATURES

1. Both of these elven worlds are used by our Fellowship as a safe haven. How are they different? How are they similar?

2. As Sauron's power grows, how is it that the Shire is seemingly still untouched?

3. The NAZGUL...how cool are they? What do they represent, to Aragorn in particular?

4. How does the RING corrupt? How does Frodo find the strength to resist?

5. Here we meet the creature Gollum. Who is he, and what evil does he bring with him?

Who are your favorite characters, and why?

Have fun!

A Final Post

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING

This is a general discussion thread for any type of squeeage that you'd like to let loose. :)

Me, I want to say: THE MUSIC OWNS ME. I love the Fellowship Theme Song but really it all is amazing.

And this cracks me up every time:
Frodo: Bilbo, have you been at the Gaffer's home brew?
Bilbo: No. Well yes, but that's not the point.

bwahhahahhaha

Also, Arwen and Galadriel are strong women (and there's another one to add but she comes later, hee) and I love seeing that on film.

Okay, what do you want to squee about?

What are your five fave quotes?
