Who: Tonks and Teddy (and Remus, if he'd like to stop avoiding the library anytime soon)
What: Super-awkward mother-son bonding?
Where: The library
When: Post-storm
Rating: PG-13 because swearing seems to run in the family
Minimum: A BILLION WORDS. I mean, whatevs.
Status: Unfinished
Tonks made her way down to what was left of the library, numbly taking in her surroundings. Although the library was supposedly safe now, the rest of the place was utterly destroyed. Everything she'd gotten so used to in the past few weeks was gone. She knew she shouldn't've gotten so comfortable, so trusting of this stupid mansion. She had known it was only a matter of time until things went wrong, but she'd been so determined to believe that everything was going to be just fine that she'd actually talked herself into doing just that. Stupid.
Even stupider for being so pathetic that she had hidden from the storm in the first place. Part of her knew she wanted to be helping get people to safety. That she really ought to be doing that. Remus had found her in what was left of their flat and immediately took off to help that Abby person get someone else out of the rubble. They hadn't had a moment to discuss any of the manor's... new arrivals at all. Remus had probably had less time on his hands than she had while she was trapped to flip through what was going on in his journal. Or he just hadn't wanted to talk about it, and frankly, she didn't know how to bring it up. It wasn't the time for it. She was somewhat glad she'd had the good sense to bring her journal along with her when she'd hid from the storm in the first place — since it had gotten her rescued and all — but finding out from Hermione that she'd been conversing with the son who she still didn't quite believe could possibly exist someday was weighing rather heavily on her mind.
So now here she was. She wasn't hurt, but she was awfully exhausted. That was her lame excuse for not tagging along to help. She hesitated before entering the library. She could just disguise herself, blend in with the rest of the people who had gathered in there. Hide from what she didn't want to face. But that seemed just as stupid as hiding from the storm, and she'd screwed things up enough when she'd done that. She made her way into the library, trying to keep a low profile, but still hoping to find a familiar face to help distract her from, well, everything.
