Celebrated every August, the Harvest of Messis is the time for the people of Mandalus to welcome the oncoming harvest. They celebrate the fortune of a bountiful crop year, as well as looking towards the onset of fall. As with all holidays in the city, the Harvest will have decorations, lore, and activities will be open for all of your characters to do.
As always, these events are entirely optional to participate in! However the city will be celebrating them so your character will be exposed to them. This means that while you do not have to tag into event posts, your character should not be oblivious to what is going on around them.
Lore of Messis
The Goddess Messis was the daughter of the God of Life, Alacritas. While her father ruled the six months that became known as spring and summer, Messis was charged to take care of the land. It would be her decision to bless the farmers with the food to prepare them for the fall and winter months, as well as making sure cattle and animals were plump and healthy.
In celebration, and hopes of pleasing Messis, the ancient people of Mandalus began to hold a week long festival in her honor. There they would provide for one another in any way possible. The farming communities would bring the first yield of their harvest to the populous in hopes of spurring them to help with the larger harvests in the year.
Messis would then later fall in love with the Demi-God Morgeis. The harvest would then represent the hope for gaining the graces of the goddess in order to not see Morgeis in the coming winter.
What To Expect
• Decorations will be in every part of the city. Stalks of corn or haystacks will be tied to polls or outside businesses and homes. Banners of burnt orange, red and bronze will decorate the Venetian District as well as the farmlands. Most business will offer free sample products in remembrance of providing for each other.
• Citizens will be helpful and try to make amends with the Honored Guests in light of the holiday. Don't expect the harsher NPCs to still like your characters after the holiday.
• The Temple will have doors open for any worshipers or any religion and host charity events in hopes of having citizens and Honored Guests aid in the attacks after recent events.
➡ THE EVENT
As with all our holiday events, there will be various activities your characters can join in on. There will be a post in mandaluslogs dated for the event times with sub-threads for each major activity. This does not mean you cannot post your own threads or network posts about the festival! We encourage everyone to participate in this event in anyway they wish.
Harvest Carnival
In the Venetian District will be a carnival that lasts from the afternoon until night. There are various games and races to take place in. There are also stages that will host musicians or artists that would like to share their talents. This is open to Honored Guests as well! Take a night and just enjoy carnival food and rides.
