Welcome to the June Edition of the Game Updates. This month we've made several decisions, as mods, about the direction of the game and how we feel things have been running lately. There has been extensive discussion about the plot, the events, and where we want to take things, so below are a few things to read about. We've also had quite an eventful month with the event at the beginning of the month and the player run expedition plot in the middle of the month, so please take a few moments to catch yourself up here!
• Recent Events At the beginning of the month, Mandalus was met with a new spin on the 4th Wall Event often found at games. Our event ran similarly to others, in that it brought characters in that would return at the end of the event. Our event, however, had impact on the game. It was "canon" to the game. This event held plot purposes as well, due to it being caused by The Serpent and his attempts on the city itself. This was yet another attack by The Serpent that will lead up to our July event, the follow on from April's Nightmare event. The event entailed several rips in reality that allowed people to flood the city, and this has left a lasting stain on the city in the form of branch-like designs in the sky.
Additionally, in the middle of the month, Captain Kirk led an expedition into the Blast Zone in the Residential District and the underlying regions beneath it. Feel free to read the logs for the expedition HERE and HERE. In the Underground of the city, beneath the Blast Zone, there was an obelisk found containing information about Mandalus, The Serpent, and the technology being developed there, particularly the weapons technology. This information is gradually being discovered by Tony Stark and other volunteers HERE. Along with the obelisk, below the city, the expedition team found a group of people living in the research facility. Below is more information concerning these people.
• The C'Meni The group of approximately thirty people found still alive amongst the corpses in the research facility beneath the Blast Zone are known as The C'Meni. These are people from outside the city itself who were hidden below the city before the first arrival of Honored Guests in May 2012. With this, we will be introducing two new NPCs in the coming weeks. The C'Meni are the few remaining survivors from the Flash Event that destroyed a large portion of the Residential District, but they are also from outside the barrier surrounding the city. In the coming weeks we will be explaining more and more about their history as we introduce them, and characters will be able to make their choices on whether they are to be trusted or not. Keep in mind the System did keep them a secret beneath the city.
• July Event The event for July will be the long awaited, and delayed, continuation of the Nightmare event in April. While we are aware this has been delayed because of Mandalus' One Year Anniversary, we would like to apologize, regardless, for how far it has been pushed back from its original intended live date. Because of the delay, however, we have been able to revamp our original plan for the event and we will be running it for longer than it was intended to run when first concieved. The event will be held from July 8th - August 3rd and will be considerably intense and plot heavy. There will be opportunities for physical and emotional pain for your characters, don't worry! We know how much you all enjoy that.
• Thing Are Getting Dark With the new event in July, Mandalus is about to take a rather dark turn. Our older players will recall the events of last August and September in which the city was overtaken by the Serpent Cult. However bad you thought that was? Things are about to get a lot worse. With this event, the Serpent will be making a new move on the city and there will be a lot more all out warfare to come. The aftermath of this event will have a very major impact on the structure of the game both ICly and OOCly, and the mods will need everyone to get involved for things to go as well as we hope they will. For now, we would like to remind everyone this is a war game, and things always get worse before they get better.
• Player Plots Just like the Nightmare Event and the Star Trek expedition into the underground, the mods are always open to having player run plots such as this one. We are here to help support players who want to compose plots and run them, and while we do ask for you to let us know what's going on, we are more than happy to see players create their own events. If you want to run an event or have an idea, contact the mods and we will be glad to help you work out the finer points and help fit it into the schedule so nothing gets overlooked!
• Mod Contact As a friendly reminder, we have a Mod Plurk which can be found and followed HERE. This is where we will announce updates and events, as well as ask for feedback on how things are going in the game. Additionally, individual mods can be contacted by the information for HERE. Please never hesitate to contact a mod.
Make sure you've read everything and keep on keeping on, Mandalus!
