Sam lifted his chin to look up at his brother and Ruby took that moment to try and wipe at her face again. Her throat squeezed painfully and she did her best to not make any sounds of distress. Sam looked to Ruby again, and she could not stop the broken, painful exhale that escaped her.
Her grip tightened on Sam's hand, her own trembling a little as she held on. "That's a good answer," Ruby said, a watery chuckle escaping her.
She looked back up to Dean and her heart hurt even more. It was bad enough that she was losing a dear friend and someone she cared greatly for, but Dean was losing his family. The person he loved more than anyone else.
