Sora dreamed. He hopped from one situation to another in his own dream world, oblivious to everything around him. Days went by where all he did was twitch a finger slightly, or his eyelids. It wasn't the first time he had ever been asleep for a long stretch of time. Last time it had been a whole year with his memories gone, then slowly replaced.
This time he hadn't lost a thing. He gained. So many memories that swirled by like a strange, dark dream. Or a nightmare. Destruction, devastation. Death. But there had been life too. Laughter despite everything as he stayed close to the few people he had left. One face, one voice, stood out in particular. Ellie.
Wake up.
Ellie and he fighting. Wake up. Claiming a run down apartment as their own. You have to wake up. Living together. Loving each other until death- Wake up, you fucking asshole. He fought against watching her die. Against the pain. His head hurt as the images, the memories jumbled together. Clashed with his own. He was in the city but he was older. He was in the city but he was his normal self. His correct age.
His eyelids fluttered as he felt himself rising, like someone trying to swim to the surface. Swim toward a goal. He could do it. Just a little farther.
Wake up.
Sora's eyes opened, blinking against the bright, harsh light of wherever he was. He gagged, coughing, as he fought to breath with the little oxygen tubes in his nose. A heavy hand lifted to yank them out. He wasn't going to need them now.
