And then it was Stiles' turned to roll his eyes painfully hard at Derek's comment. He knew he was the sidekick. The source of the jokes and the sarcasm. He knew that Scott was going to get the girl. But it helped Stiles get to sleep at night, thinking he might have someone to fall asleep next to one day. Someone he was completely comfortable with.
Stiles glanced over at Derek, all stretched out and relaxed on his bed. Good. He needed it. After all the crap they'd gone through, Derek needed, like, a week of sleep. And Stiles wouldn't fault him for it. Hell, he'd give the werewolf a few extra pillows so he'd be super-comfy. He snorted softly at Derek's comment. "You've figured me out. Good for you. Too bad you can't do anything about it," Stiles said, not really trying too hard to be witty.
He glanced over at Derek, seeing him comfortable with the book on his stomach. "Yeah, okay." and you feel your heart taking root in your body, like you've discovered something you don't even have a name for. The words floated to the forefront of his mind and Stiles made a soft sound, looking back to the book. He tried to focus on the words, he really did.
