"You're the most obnoxious person I've ever met. And you've met my uncle," he offered, giving him an equally obnoxious expression, rolling his eyes as Stiles said his feelings got hurt easily. If he'd actually hurt his feelings, he had a feeling he'd know instantly. He knew Stiles didn't like his attitude sometimes, and that was likewise, but they were getting better with both of them. Arguing and bantering was second nature to them but it was better than it used to be.
Stiles' heart quickened and Derek sat up straighter in his seat, green eyes flicking up to fix on the teenager across the way from him. He didn't say anything but he absolutely heard it, and he wasn't sure of the reason for it. It was definitely a big step, considering they were only just learning that words were better to use than violent responses, but he was confident that living together in the loft wasn't going to be a problem. He'd managed living with Isaac and the sheer level of sass that could come from him was disgusting. Stiles' sarcasm couldn't be any harder to stomach 24/7.
The mention of cookies made his eyebrows raise and Derek made a small amused noise, nodding slightly. "Cute," he quipped, his gaze dropping back towards the books on the table. Once he'd sufficiently drawn the moment out long enough to make it awkward, Derek picked up another book and flipped it open. It was a book of poetry and he found the last place he'd been at before he'd left and tried to keep reading it.
