After being in Mandalus for six months, seeing Batman was a huge reminder of what she had left behind. She figured that she would have adjusted to the point where seeing the Bat wouldn't bring back all those buried feelings. The anger, the loss, the bitterness, and the slight streak of happiness. Even if it was Blake under the cape and cowl? Selina had to admit to herself that now Mandalus felt a bit more like home. Who would have thought that nearly ten years of having the Bat grace the Gotham News would have left such an impact on her? Not her, that was for sure.
Deciding that it was time to meet up with Blake about his late night adventures, Selina strode into the apartment. Dressed in her typical black attire and a newspaper under her arm, she walked up to the front desk at the lobby of Blake's apartment. After a quick lie and act that she was his girlfriend who had lost the key and she needed her purse back, the attendant took her up to Blake's door. She slipped inside once the attendant had opened the door for her and looked around. Closing the door behind her, Selina took the time to walk around the apartment and take note of what Blake had done with the place. Like her place at Hatfield, there weren't many mementos or personal touches. Just a basic living space. A knowing smirk crossed her face before she started to look for what she really came for.
She had to hand it to the cop that he really knew how to hide secrets. She moved room to room to try and find a way into what Bruce had left him. Her determination eventually led him to his bedroom and to the closet, running her fingers over the wall for a hidden switch or something like that. A smirk passed over her face and she pushed the clothes aside. Finally. There was a door in the closet, but you had to know what to look for. Clever. Selina pushed on it. It eventually gave way and slid into the wall. Someone knew how to get high-tech around her. She stepped forward before the smirk on her face turned into a frown.
A fireman pole. Really?
Rolling her eyes, she was suddenly glad that she had pants on. Her slender hands curled around the pole. She hopped onto it, easing her grip enough so that she'd slide down the pole. Her hair flipped up from the wind as she went down at least two floors before coming to a stop. Glancing around, she slipped off the pole and fixed her attire. Her heels clicked on the ground under her as she made sure not to slip on the ground. It was wet and she could hear the faint sound of roaring water. The cave had to lead out to the canals that led to the Venetian District then. Her fingers passed over the brick walls as she came up to the sight that most Gothamites would die to see. Bruce really took the whole 'Bat' thing seriously, didn't he? Even going so far to make an actual bat cave his base of operations. She shook her head to herself before walking down the path that rose out of the water to the platform she saw Blake sitting on.
"You know," she said casually as if she stopped in all the time. "I think that most men would pay me to slide down a pole for them. You should consider yourself lucky..."
The words died on the tip of her tongue as she came to a stop at the center of the walkway. The breath caught in her chest and could have sworn that her heart almost stopped beating for a moment. She knew the voice that came from the computer that Blake was sitting at. It was a voice she never thought she'd hear again.
