"Get the one with the sword!" Darcy called into the cell phone, watching as the Dark Elves advanced on her and Ian the Intern. Not a moment later, there was a rush of energy and Darcy was standing on a beach. Her eyebrows went up and she did a quick spin, looking around her. If this was Jane's idea of keeping her safe, it was a weird one. After a second spin, she noticed a man in vaguely familiar robe walking towards her. Darcy took a step back, reaching for her bag, to take out her taser. She had a buy a new one for when she was in London. The X26. It could have looked nicer, but it did the job. The man in the robe referred to her as an 'Honored Guest' and Darcy stopped, hand freezing where it hovered over the taser in her messenger bag. Slowly removing her hand, Darcy sighed, shoulders slumping a little.
Two years. It'd been two years since she'd heard that term. The man continued forward, offering her a cell phone with a polite nod. Darcy held her hand out, palm facing the overcast sky. Snow fell in fat clumps, quickly sticking to her clothes and hair. The robed man dropped the cell phone into her hand then wished her luck and made his way from the beach. Darcy sighed, trudging her way up towards the road as she checked the contacts. Nope. No Martinsson. It'd been a little over two years since she'd last seen Magnus Martinsson, and when she returned home, to where she was when she arrived in Aliunde the first time, she'd cried herself to sleep. Darcy's thumb idly rubbed at her ring finger, and her stomach sank. They were gone. Her rings were...gone. She swallowed hard, and wondered faintly if they'd landed where she had been last in the city. Grocery shopping. She'd been pulled home when she was grocery shopping. One minute she was reaching for milk, the next, she was sitting in the back of Jane's SUV, after Thor had disappeared into the sky with his friends. So she had to live out two years without the friends she'd made in Mandalus. Had to sit in the theater next to Jane as she watched the newest Star Trek movie, sobbing her heart out over Kirk, while Jane tried to remind her that they were just fictional characters. Darcy put her Political Science degree on hold, sticking with Jane full time. And then she'd ended up in London and that was a whole 'nother can of worms.
[A familar face popped up on the device, flashing a small, humorless smile.] Hey there, guys and dolls. Miss me? Yeah, I know you did. How could you not?
[Darcy glances off to the side, catching a snowflake right in the eye. Damn it. That's what glasses were for. For a moment, Darcy look heartsick and she swallows hard.] Anybody wanna update me on what I've missed in the two years I've been outie? It's gonna be quite the walk to the bus station to get home. [Not to mention the transfers to get up to the Residential District. Ugh.]
[If you are okay with Thor: TDW spoilers, be sure to say so!]
