In the quiet of the forest, there was the sound of the wind moving through the trees, soft murmurings of the C'Meni performing their rituals, then a sharp intake of breath as Darcy Lewis-Martinsson took her first breath in a week. The deep, rich smell of the forest overwhelmed her as she took several panting breaths. It was almost too much and she lifted her hand to cover her face. One of the C'meni came forward, moving to kneel beside her, helping Darcy sit up. He explained in low tones, what had happened. The damage had been severe and they'd done their very best, but she would carry the scar for the rest of her life.
"Scar?" Darcy opened her eyes to nothing. There was nothing around her. No forest, no C'Meni, no sky. Only blackness. She blinked several times, still seeing nothing. "Oh, great. Last time, I was deaf. Now I'm blind. Just gonna make our way down the list of my senses, huh?" Darcy huffed aloud.
"I am very sorry, Honored Guest. We cannot do anything to control the penalty. Is there anything we can do?" The C'Meni said in a low, patient tone.
"Do you have my phone? Can you start an open voice call? No point in doing video. Can't freakin' see."
"Of course."
Darcy heard the shuffling of the C'meni man getting her phone and the sound of the buttons being pressed. She felt his touch on her wrist and he slipped her phone into her hand. "It is ready, Honored Guest," He said in a low murmur.
Thanks, buddy. [Darcy says to the man.] Hey, so...I died. Heh, that's the worst opening line ever, I'd say. But, um, this is Darcy Lewis and I'm in the middle of the-- forest, right? Smells like the forest-- [She says softly to the man, who then says she's correct.] Yeah. So, I'm in the forest and I can't see jack all. I'd appreciate the help getting home.
Anybody got an update on the crew of the Enterprise? [She tries not to sound nervous, but her voice wavers for a moment.] Thanks, in advanced.
