005 rose; action [open to all]; hide your face so the world will never find you.
[ Once again, the Great Hall of Hatfield house is opened to the public of Mandalus for the Masquerade Ball. Guests are lead through the front gates by the security hired and are marked as guests by a simple bracelet of fresh-water pearls tied to their wrists. Once the few hundred or so are given out, no one else is allowed in, (or unless you're one of the guests she has marked down on the list, of course). They also double as the gift for attending. When inside, the great hall is a teeming mess of people, of every kind, all masked. It's not simple party, it's a ball, and it's packed with people pretending to be more or less than who they are. Dancing, laughing, talking amongst themselves, even if they've never spoken before or not, a king may be a pauper, a pauper may be a prince, it's leaving the real world, and entering a world of pretend. Music is playing loudly from the stage, and the lights hang from the ceiling (mercifully lit with light bulbs, not candles, though candles line the wall, flickering brightly). Working the way through the crowds are Elizabeth's staff, more hired on for the night, holding plates of food and drink, always willing to bring more to anyone asking. There is nothing lacking for the evening. Be careful of the delicious food on the plate though, it could have surprising reactions! If it becomes too hot, there is space in the inner courtyard, where a fountain is bubbling, and the gardens are lit by fairy lights in the carefully cut hedges. There are more entertainers to be had there, fire breathers and jugglers that interact and perform for guests, and one or two short comedy scenes from plays. There is also a maze, should anyone want to go wandering for privacy, just don't get lost! If that is still too loud, one of the galleries has been opened up, with tables and chairs if anyone needs a respite for awhile to talk between themselves without the loud cheering. Apart from the gallery, strictly no wandering into the east and west wings! The rest of the tiger streak is wandering about the corridors, as to not frighten the main guests, but to wayward wonderer's out, and will only let Elizabeth, Gabriel, Selina, Anne Boleyn and Henry Tudor through to the rooms. Don't try it unless you want a very annoyed tiger biting your leg, or worse, going to get Elizabeth. ] |
