[Sora coughs again, then a wheeze. And then nothing. She watches as his chest stills and the tears blur her vision. She gives his hand a squeeze one last time, reluctant to let go. After a few minutes, his hand starts to warm and Ellie has to move. She lets go of his hand quickly, scrambling away in the snow, and turns just in time to see his body combust. The golden orange glow is nearly blinding and Ellie blinks away the tears that flood her eyes.
Ellie stays there the whole time, watching as one of her best friends burns to ash that blows away in the wind, melting the snow around him. When the fire dies out, Ellie sits there for a few minutes more, then slowly forces herself to get up. With one last look to the singed grass sounded by a ring of melted snow, Ellie makes a broken sound, and heads back for the house.
