It wasn't that Keith never smiled, or even laughed. It was just that he was usually far too focused on things around him to do so. But it did happen, and picturing himself in the leather thing that Xena wore amused him. He burst out laughing, eyes sparkling with his mirth. "Oh, I don't know. I don't think Lucy will be out of a job because of me any time soon. Well... if they were still filming, of course." The idea definitely amused him, though, and he couldn't help but smile about it for a couple of moments.
Keith had to shake his head, though, and smile ruefully to himself. "Most people don't see it that way." He thought for a couple of moments, then looked at Tanner once more. "Logical is a bad thing, and so is being quiet, because it makes people think that you don't feel at all." If he were more honest, he'd try to explain that he wasn't this forthcoming with most people, but that Tanner's sweetness had made him open up more than he normally did. But saying things like that would probably just freak the younger man out, so it was probably for the best that he didn't quite dare. "I think too much, I've heard that one said many, many times."
He finished up his food and pushed his plate away, then picked up his water cup and toyed with it idly as he waited for the younger man to finish up as well. In truth, the conversation had seemed a bit odd to him, but then, when it came to the rare few people that Keith actually connected with enough to open up to, he actually spoke pretty much what was on his mind. It was just that he didn't open up to many people that much.
But he was surprised, however, when Tanner started to speak. He blinked, quite astonished, and then smiled once more. "Thank you." He shook his head, trying to clear it. This conversation was strange, even for him. "I think it is a bit strange, but I don't mind." He glanced down at his empty plate and shrugged. "It was really quite amazing. I think we should come here again." Oh, because that didn't sound presumptuous or anything. "I mean, if you want to, of course."
