Keith knew that he should be excited. After all, he was going off not only to a new school, but also to a whole new country. Yes, he'd been down to the States before, but not very often. To the small town boy from Prince Rupert, BC, a place in Northern BC which no one had ever heard about, going to Manchester seemed like a pretty big deal indeed, thank you very much. So, yes, he was excited, and nervous, and a little bit terrified. It was a potent combination.
But, on top of all that, there was the very real sense of failure that he felt. He'd spent several years, since he got out of high school, trying to find his older brother, who had abandoned him when he was thirteen. But there was no trace of the older man, which made Keith wonder. Was Justin... but no, he refused to think about that. Still, it meant he was not coming right out of high school, and he'd probably be a bit older than the other freshman. So that was an extra worry to add to the list he already had, which was quite long enough, thank you.
Still, he wasn't going to let that stop him. He was just as determined as he'd ever been to be a doctor, despite the time he'd spent looking for Justin. So that brought him to where he was, Alden University, standing outside a rather plain, though still, to Keith, intimidating, door. He had all his luggage, as well as some money to buy the things he needed. He was set. And yet, to be honest, part of him just wanted to turn away, catch the nearest flight heading north out of here, and go home. It was just a momentary urge, but it was very real, and very strong.
Still, the temporary lapse was soon over, and Keith nerved himself up and pushed open the door. He was not a coward, and was vaguely ashamed of himself for acting like one, even if only for a moment. He lugged several bags inside, then glanced around, eyes narrowed for a moment. But the place looked clean enough, at least, and with that established, he looked around for people. He'd been told he had a roommate.
His gaze fell on a rather attractive young man, probably a couple of years younger than Keith, and quite a bit smaller than him. Well, Keith was used to that. He looked for a moment, and then approached the man. "...Hello." He really wasn't used to talking to strangers, but if this guy was his roommate, he should at least introduce himself. "I'm Keith Summers."
