As he walked quietly along the path, he heard footsteps approaching him, and he paused. The man that they belonged to he did not recognize, but they were with purpose. Clearly the person was trying to find him, even if he had no idea who the person was. Normally he would have ignored it, but after Beth had been attacked, he had been far more cautious about those around him, especially in the daytime. He should have tried to have question the man more thoroughly, but had not thought about it in that heat of the moment, with his eye cut the way that it had been. That, and he had been afraid to show Beth what he was. Sometimes, of course, mesmerization did not do the trick, and more... brutal methods needed to be used.
"Desmond? Are you Desmond?" the man asked calmly, and Desmond nodded quietly in response. "There was a girl looking for you, with Blonde hair and blue eyes. Real cutie... you're a lucky guy." the athletic young man said with a chuckle. His smile faded though as Desmond stared at him questioningly, clearly feeling a bit unnerved by the way that he was being watched. "Well, I... should be going. Good luck with your girl..."
Desmond frowned a little, but nodded softly. "Thanks." he said, watching as the man jogged off quietly. It did not take long to find Beth, simply crossing the school grounds and he saw her, talking to people. With the sun up he could not hear her words, but he could guess as to what they were. A part of him wanted to vanish into his dorm room and pretend he had never gone out this day, but he knew that Beth would not be deterred so easily. He could see it in her face, a look of determination as she asked.
Instead, Desmond took a seat on a park bench on the path of where she was running, pulling out a book of poems by Lord Byron as he waited for her to approach. He did not look up when he heard her footsteps, he did not need to, he knew what her feet sounded like by heart. He also could feel the warmth of her gaze upon him, so much like Magdelena's in his dream. "Why did you try to find me when I asked you not to, Beth?" he said finally, looking up from his writing, his pale blue eyes filled with sadness.
