Marie nodded and watched the excitement practically pour off of the other girl. It made Marie smile, just a little. Her passion was swimming, so it was nice to know that someone else had the same drive. "I don't normally sit in on the try-outs, but I guess I could talk to coach about it and see." She hadn't ever had anyone ask her to sit in on their try-out, if it were her, she would have preferred people stay away so that if she didn't make it at least she wouldn't be totally humiliated.
She shook her head as they began to walk off the track toward the walkway between some buildings that led toward the cafeteria. "No, I haven't eaten lunch." She hesitated for a moment when Kay implored her to eat with her. She felt bad abandoning the new girl to find her own way around, so she shrugged. "Sure. I can eat with you." She was a little reluctant about it, but what could it hurt? Clearly the girl was neither a human, nor had any idea where her skin was to capture her with it if she was.
"Ah, well, thanks. I believe your own name is more fitting to you, however." She had noticed a lilt to Kay's voice that bespoke a gift of persuasion and possibly the gift of music. "I've met a few sirens in my life, am I wrong to think that you are one?" She gave Kay a sidelong glance and then smiled, "Sure, the pool after we eat." She wondered briefly if she should introduce Whip to Kaydence. They seemed to have the same level of energy, but she was sure that it would create a tornado of energy she didn't think she could withstand.
They passed between a few buildings before the student center loomed up in front of them. It was a large building, and other than housing the cafeteria, it was home to the admissions office, financial aid office, and a host of other things they deemed necessary. "Here we are."
