Of course she was looking for love, but she had just barely gotten to know the magnificent man who stood before her. It would be much too soon for love. But that surely did not mean that if the opportunity presented itself, she wouldn't take it. They'd had something in common that she found a rarity and that seemed like something worth exploring. Whether it became something epic or not, she felt the desire and the curiosity to delve a little deeper. Besides, if someone hadn't decided to swim a little deep into the ocean, where it blackened and turned into a land of mystery, there would have been many creatures that go undiscovered.
It took courage, of course, but also the will to discover. She had the will, and most times lacked the courage but that was something she was working on. You had to take a risk by believing in the possibility that every moment and every encounter could be a great one. She felt as thought meeting Desmond was one of those great moments. And by taking a chance, by not running when he told her he was a dhampir, she discovered that beneath all the beauty and allure that his presence brought, there was a sadness in his eyes. There was a man who fought his very nature to make sure that he didn't harm her in those moments they were together.
And what she was discovering was even worse, was that he didn't seem to believe it was possible that she felt so drawn towards him for any other reason then the fact he was dhampir.
She wondered if there had been anyone that he would have been able to trust to look at him and want him just because he existed. Because he spoke like poetry and cared enough about a stranger's virtue to offer his own coat so she wasn't naked. And because even though he didn't believe in the idea of an all power god like being controlling everyone's movements and in things like fate, he still told her that she should still look for it, because if she stopped, she wouldn't recognize it when it was staring her in the face.
Raina also wondered if he took his own advice. Did he condemn himself to a life of solitude for a sin from the past? Or did he keep his eyes open for something that may one day stare right back at him? Would he walk away? It didn't even have to be her. Or were all of her thoughts pointless and only existing because it was easier than thinking he could just walk away from her?
She shook her head when he spoke about her affections existing solely because of his species. "I think perhaps you should give me a little more credit here." But she barely had time to form the rest of her thoughts for one moment he was standing in front of her and the next he had gone. She took a few steps forward and looked around, as if would have stopped feet away. But that was a silly thought for her to have. Suddenly she felt.. well, there wasn't exactly a word. She'd been sure she'd made a connection with someone who saw something deeper in her, something that went beyond her tail, pink hair and bubbly demeanor.
Dropping her hands to her sides, Raina let out a sigh but didn't know exactly what to do with herself. She didn't want to go back to her room but she wasn't quite ready to leave yet. The darkness of the night wrapped around her form as she decided she might as well head back to her room. Sure it was late, but it was the walk in the evening that she was more longing for. Though it would be a lie to say she wasn't hoping that he would step out from behind one of the trees and join her.
