She wasn't prying. Not completely. Maybe a little, but only because it was part of who she was. It's how she worked, but she didn't honestly expect him to answer. If he did, that was his choice. She had been rather open about herself and didn't expect him to just return the gesture. When his eyes turned up to the sky, she couldn't help herself and looked up as well. The twinkling dots that lined the rich navy color of the night sky were breath taking. She felt small when looking up at the stars. It reminded her that her problems, while legitimate, weren't the biggest things in the world. There would always be something else. What made you a person wasn't the number of problems you lived through, but how you handled yourself in them. Maybe this situation with the satyr wasn't exactly the end of the world as she had once thought.
"So if you don't believe in fate, what do you believe in?" Raina asked curiously. For her, she liked to believe that there was a bigger plan out there. Not that her whole world was already planned out, but that certain things were meant to happen. In her mind, she was meant to have this conversation with Desmond, and no matter what either could have done in their lives, they would still be right here, at this moment in time, having this same conversation. Just like no matter what happened between her parents and grandparents, she would have still found herself attending Alden University. It made her feel like every decision she makes has a reason. Every situation that arises in her life has a purpose.
She considered his comments about the Satyr and thought back on the afternoon preceding the date. She had been interested in him for days. He had a strong physique that could easily keep her safe from harm. He was surrounded in an aura of strength and dominance. But despite all that, he hadn't exactly given her any kind of signs that he planned on wooing her. He hadn't shown up with a bouquet of flowers or even had seemed that happy to see her. Had she really put too much stock in that situation than was actually there? The blush of embarrassment crossed the apple of her cheeks and she looked down, realizing how stupid she had acted. "No, I don't suppose he did. I guess I'm always expecting the best out of people, which isn't a bad thing but it doesn't exactly mean a guy who has nothing but getting me between the sheets on his mind is going to consider courting me when he can find what he wants somewhere else." She looked up at him for a moment. "I sound pretty pathetic, huh? No woman nowadays wants to be courted. They want a man with money and good looks. That just doesn't seem enough to me."
Yes she loved all things of beauty, but that also included how beautiful something becomes when you love it. "I grew up reading about falling in love, and watching old black and white movies." Sunday mornings, curled in bed with some romantic old film was ideal. "I always wanted to find someone I could talk to, someone who could have intellectual conversations with me. Someone who loves me and protects me. But there's just something so romantic about being courted and taking things slowly, asking for that first kiss instead of just diving in for it. Getting permission from my father before presenting me with a ring and asking to share our lives together. Nobody really seems to feel the same way anymore." It was something she has to accommodate if she wants to find love.
