The way his head tilted when he spoke made her think that he thought she was serious. Then his question and the way he looked at her tore right into her. She had to take a second to consider the possibility before resigning herself to the fact that he did not, in fact, realize she was joking. "Well, maybe it's fate that we met tonight. Think of all the other places you could have gone, or I could have. Of all the rocks lining the shore, we both happened to be near enough to each other that I would hear you reading and be there when you went for an impromptu swim. Of all the places either of us could be right now, we're both here, having this conversation." Then, to keep the topic light, she shrugged her shoulders and smiled. "Or maybe that was just my incredibly poor attempt at flirting."
The tingling sensation in her legs intensified enough to be a little uncomfortable. She shifted her weight as her now dry fin completed it's turn back into two capable and shapely legs. Hidden behind the calf on her right leg was a scar from a very unfortunate experience that she preferred not to talk about. Pulling her legs up to her chest, she continued to use the duster as a blanket that she could easily wrap around her like a quilt. Her toes stuck out the bottom of the fabric and she wiggled them when she looked down at them. It was always a trip for her to see them where her tail had just been. "I shouldn't even be trying to flirt, though." Raina added a moment later. "I really should just keep from love and those kinds of affections for awhile. I actually just got ditched from my date with a Satyr who expected me to get in the middle of him and one of his faun friends. When I said no, he took me to the pool," She added that part with a little disgust. "A mer in a pool is like.. I don't know, a gold fish in one of those little goldfish bowls. It's so restricting."
She wasn't exactly sure why she was so easily opening up to him and blabbering away her whole story. It just seemed to flow out. "And when he realized he wasn't getting any tail, his words, not mine, he decided to take off with a little group of nymphs. And that was probably the better of my dates lately." Her head shake left her staring over at him, slightly embarrassed. "That was probably too much information, wasn't it?"
