Somewhat taken aback by this strange man who seemed to be hardly older than Keith himself, the pre-med student just looked at Septimus, unsure what to do with him. It seemed that his entire personality had done a complete 180, and it was a tiny bit jarring to Keith, left him trying to keep up with what was going on, a feeling that he hated desperately.
Still, his mind was quick, and after a few seconds struggle he did catch up. The trick was to just forget what he knew about this man, as little as it was, and take him as he seemed in the moment. With that in mind, Keith found it much easier, and he nodded slowly in agreement. Despite this man's generally unpleasant demeanor, passion for something was always a thing that Keith admired, and Septimus, at the moment, certainly had that.
"No, I have often thought of that," Keith admitted. "In the days when witches were still burned at the stake for nothing more than having a little knowledge of herbalism, if even that, think of the reaction from something so simple as... a laptop computer? Or even something much simpler, a mechanical calculator. I understand what you are saying."
