There was nothing and no one but the darkness and just when she thought the man before her would take everything that she had, including her life Beth felt something hard hit him and pull his grip from her arm, his fingers pressing hard against her as he struggled to remain where he was. The shock held her there, her breath still, and then as she finally turned to look upon the face of the man who had threatened her Beth also in that moment recognized the long black coated of the blur that had saved her life. Things occurred too quickly for her to react and stop them, to intervene and save the man who had saved her, and like that as she finally staggered forward a knife was brought out and she gasped at the sight of the blade over the left side of Desmond's face. Her hands flew to her now gapping mouth and she drew a breath as the nameless stranger glanced her direction now, mocking both she and Desmond. Her mind all the while screaming, who are you?! as she stared upon the face of evil, his crooked smile sending a chill down her smile.
Desmond once again was quick to react and before she could wrap her mind around everything the figure was retreating. She drew a breath and took a step toward her friend, she wished to thank him, wished to take a look at his wound, and wished to apologize for the last time that they'd spoken, nothing about the ending of that conversation felt right and she feared for his mental state and well being. He seemed like a truly kind hearted being that deserved such happiness in this life. Desmond however began to retreat as well and Beth frowned, why was he fleeing the crime scene, he'd done nothing wrong.
"Wait..." She called after him, her feet moving before she knew any better and she caught his wrist. "Wait..." Beth repeated, "thank you...are you hurt? Let me see..." And she reached up to turn his face to her as she struggled to examine his wounds under the dim campus lights.
