As the violins began to soar from the ipod, however, suddenly the sound cut out, and Desmond was ripped from his wonderful world back to one of cars rumbling and babies crying in the night. The transition was so jarring that he nearly tumbled off of the roof he had such a start. Blinking, he looked at the device, the most expensive one that had been in the store. It said something about a Low... Battery. Whatever that meant. He would have to ask Dannika in the morning.
Sighing a little, he neatly put the iPod back into the case that it had come in, exactly the way that it had been in there before, taking off his gloves to accomplish the task, before very neatly putting it in his pocket. It seemed like a wonderful artifact, and he was afraid of breaking it. Redonning his gloves, he prepared to leave back for his dorm room, when something familiar caught his nose. It was nearly indistinguishable in the murky smells of the city, and yet he knew it as sure as he could feel his dhampir blood flowing through his veins.
Unable to help himself, he leapt from one roof to the next, until he was close enough to gaze upon her. He could feel his chest tighten as he watched her, bowing his head softly, remembering a lyric from one of the songs that they had loaded onto his iPod for him that suddenly seemed pertinent to his own situation, even though it had been sung by a female.
'And still I dreamed she'll come to me That we will live the years together But there are dreams that cannot be And there are storms we cannot weather...'
Wincing, Desmond started to turn around. Even had he wanted to say something to her, which he was afraid to, this was the evening. At night... his senses were amplified, and the hunger, the terrible hunger was with him. While he could control it around most people, the hunger was something that was affected by emotions, which meant that the deeper you felt for someone, the more terrible it would be. He had killed many a vampire that had been weeping over their lost love that they themselves had killed, not realizing what their own desire would do to them.
When he himself had taken on a mate, he had been oh so careful at first...
But as he started to step away he could hear her breath intake faster, and frowned, looking back. There was something that was scaring her, he could see it upon her face. Feeling his lip starting to curl almost instinctively he watched the ground below her. If there were someone following her, they were about to have a very very bad evening if they meant to threaten her...
