Marie wasn't sure how to answer the question put to her. She bit down on her lower lip for a moment while she thought about her response. "I suppose. Some of them." She didn't go into it. She had so many siblings, that it was difficult to be close to any of them, having to divide her attention among so many. But she was closer to the siblings born of her birth mother than she was of those born to her other mothers. "Isn't that always the way? Wanting what we don't have? Those with big families wish for small ones and vice versa." She spoke aloofly, as if she might not be speaking of herself or anyone else, but in generalities.
"A dancer, hm? I can see that. You have a very slim figure. Not like me." She gestured to her arms that were toned and had fairly well defined muscles. She was flat chested and had a generous waist that flared into wider hips. It was not quite hourglass, but she was more bottom heavy than top heavy. Her legs, hidden beneath her skirt and behind the counter were the real marvel. They were so toned and muscled that they didn't look like they should belong to her. She wasn't even getting down on herself, she was proud to be on the swim team. She did envy those who were lighter on their feet than she was, though. She seemed very clumsy on her feet, whereas she was so graceful and quick in the water. "Well, good luck. I might have to check out the competition when they have it at Alden."
She knew that they often had the dance recitals and competitions on campus, but she'd never been interested enough to go before now. Now that she knew someone who competed.
"Oh, I did a little in high school, but I've been a swimmer all my life. I really started to compete seriously once I started school here." Her life before Alden hadn't been especially stable, moving from place to place with the herd, but now that she had to stay where she was or risk losing her opportunity, she was able to concentrate on her passions. "What about you? Been competing long?" She had to go wait on another couple of tables and gave Jia an apologetic look before she moved off.
She took an order and gave another couple their bill before returning to the counter to make some ice cream dishes. "Sorry about that. What were you saying?"
