Jia Li Adlar loved to exercise. Her favorite forms of it were stretching and dancing, but today, she had actually gone swimming. It was a bit of a weird sensation, the weightlessness of it. She recognized that it was a good form of work-out, though, one that worked the entire body. Besides, if she didn’t switch up her routine every now and then, her body would get used to what she was doing, and it wouldn’t really get better. Her physique would plateau and maybe even go backwards if she wasn’t careful.
She had enjoyed swimming laps. Like the way she preferred to dance, she didn’t stick to one specific method of swimming. She free-styled it, changing what she did every other lap or ever lap if it suited her. When she was done, she felt that pleasant tiredness that seeped into her body after a good work-out session, but she also had a hankering for some ice-cream.
It was strange, but different kinds of exercise had her craving different foods. Ice-cream was always her after-swim craving though it wasn’t a specific type she graved. It was just a frosty, dairy treat in general that she wanted. One place she liked in particular was Matilda’s.
Even as she used the swimming pool’s facilities to wash the chlorine from her hair and skin – though the showers there weren’t quite good enough to do a thorough job - she was plotting the fastest course to that particular shop. She liked the old-school diner feel it had. It was cute, and she thought the uniforms were cute, too.
Of course, she probably would have hated to work there or any retail or fast-food place for that matter. If it hadn’t been for her father’s connections, she probably would have had to work out there. As it was, she worked in the good outdoors right where she loved it best.
Once she’d dressed, she was out the door with her beach tote containing her swim gear in hand. She needed to drop it off at her dorm first because it just wasn’t fun to carry with her, but that was a good thing. Usually taking the time to go somewhere else helped curb cravings for unhealthy snacks. Of course, that wasn’t always the case. This ice-cream craving was being quite persistent.
Hopping into a few trees, stepping from a few more: it only took a couple of minutes for her to find her way to Matilda’s. It was the best form of travel, but she was always a little cautious when she stepped from a tree, peering around to make sure she wasn’t going to frighten an innocent bystander. She’d scared a few people in the past by surprising them by accident. One person had actually spilled a drink on himself because of it, and it had been a very hot beverage. Jia hadn’t like the guilt that had accompanied that incident.
Thoughts of that aside, she appeared from a tree very near the diner, and made her way inside. A little bell tinkled when she pushed the door open, and she made her way right toward the counter where a very pretty woman with a pair of the most amazing, big sapphire eyes stood. She wore the usual, white uniform with the vertical blue stripes. The blue worked well with her eyes, and Jia realized that this was one of few people who actually looked all right in the frock.
