He trotted over, and put his head into her hand, stepping into her to help run her hand across the top of his head to rest on his neck. Turning his head to her face, he put his face right up into hers and sniffed her all over and then gave her a quick lick on the cheek, to taste her scents and try to understand her better. He wagged his tail and then moved to sit by her, gazing at her.
She was still just as pretty as he remembered and there was a soft delicateness to her that he found intriguing, and yes, appealing. And through his canine senses, all of her was more articulated and enhanced. The sun on her hair made it almost gold. The smells that attached to her skin and her face were enticing. Even the sound of her movements and heart beating were alluring to him.
He nudged her hand, trying to encourage her to pet him, and he gave a small happy sigh and then plopped down on the ground next to her. She was doing exactly what he wanted to be doing, lying in the sun, but reading a book instead of snoozing.
He put his head on his paws for a moment, his eyes shifting to her book as he wondered what it was about. Nicholas Sparks, he read, knowing he'd go back to investigate the title further.
It was warm in the sun, especially on his back but he didn't mind. It felt nice, just sharing some space with her for the moment.
