Tobias relaxed slightly as he noted the person entering but he stayed where he was, twisted slightly in his seat as watched him come in. Tobias gave him a head nod, a subtle gesture of greeting that many seemed to use to pass salutations to a stranger. He wasn't quite up to his old ways; the meeting of strangers had once been a joyous thing for Tobias and he had relished it, with an open face and an open hand. He had been so naive, to think all of the world could be a friend; he had been seeped in confidence that all wanted to know him, and that he could be a friend to many if not all.
"Hello. I am Tobias," and after the briefest of hesitations, Tobias set the computer down on the couch and rose smoothly to extend a hand to other man, "It is good to meet you. I think I have seen you here, in the halls. This would make us housemates," he added, and he made an inviting gesture to an empty seat, "Desmond, please sit and join me," he said, glancing about the room and he found himself relaxing more, perhaps a trifle too soon, "This is a community room but I have had little company so far."
Tobias gave a small smirk and he took his place again, and then looked at the computer next to him, "This? It is called a computer. They seem fairly critical to have, in order to be successful in the classes here," and he paused, his hand resting on it for a moment, "I purchased it, when I purchased my books. It seems not to complicated to figure out," he said, and his expression shifted as his smile dimmed, "But I willingly admit I could use help. I take it you are not familiar with it as well?"
"May I be direct and inquire your species?" he asked, looking into the other man's face.
