Xan wasn't used to girls being terribly forward about his looks. He didn't mind it though; it gave him a better understanding of where he stood with them, if they were more open with their intentions. It made him feel a little bit better; didn't everyone like getting compliments, after all?
He kept getting odd flashes of emotions from her though. Worry, anxiety and apprehension jockeyed within her, though it wasn't very prominent. Wondering if she had something on her mind, he was about to ask, but the feelings wavered and dissipated easily enough. Maybe it was something he had said?
And here was another reason Xan had so few friends. It was hard to hang around people when he knew how they were feeling deep down, when they weren't being completely honest with him or when they had cruel thoughts. It had been fairly easy to ferret out the boys hanging out around his sister with nefarious intentions, and a little talk from the biker had been more than enough to warn them off.
“It's a good action movie. Lots of intricate fight scenes, assassins, and even an ostrich race,” he chuckled. “You might like it. And you don't even need any knowledge of the video game. I don't think it's going to be winning any awards but it's fun.”
“I usually stay up pretty late. I've always been a bit of a night owl, so I sleep most of my morning away. I mostly go to sleep around three or four in the morning and wake up before noon. But now that I have morning classes, I suppose that has to change,” Xan made a face. “Coffee is my friend, indeed.”
He was impressed. “Free running is another name for it, yeah. There are different labels. But it's basically how to get from Point A to Point B, getting over and around any obstacles in the way. It's pretty cool. I've seen videos of people scaling twelve-feet tall walls, leaping across huge gaps, and the like. It's an unusual sport. And pretty tough but not impossible. I'm thinking about giving it a shot.”
Having never been to a protest, Xan was curious about it. He wondered what they did. Hold signs and yell loudly, he supposed. Was there more to it though? Who organized such things and who decided when such event ended? It was interesting to see people feel so strongly about something. At least Jia's protest was a good cause, he figured.
He was surprised when she suddenly remembered she had something to do. The emotions rolling off her weren't...corresponding with her words. “Oh, er, all right. It was cool to meet you,” he cocked his head and half-waved as she headed off in the opposite direction.
Odd.... He wasn't certain but...it almost felt as though she had...been covering something up. Xan decided to analyze that later. Glancing around, he wasn't sure but he thought that little cluster of buildings looked vaguely familiar.
