It had never occurred to him; looking for job postings in the library. But it did make sense. The more Xan thought about it, the more appealing it sounded, working in an animal shelter. The only problem would be getting there when the weather wasn't warm and dry. As much as Xan loved his bike, he knew it wasn't exactly the most practical of rides. In fact, it was pretty much useless for anything except speed and fun. But still worth every damn penny, he nodded to himself.
“I really hope so. Now you've got that thought stuck in my head and I'm afraid nothing else will compare,” he joked wryly. “I've been to the library a couple times before but never by the same route.”
That was another thing he'd noticed; Xan never, ever got lost. Whether it was dark or not, going to some place new, some place he had never been, he'd never once actually gotten turned around or needed to look at a map. Sometimes it just...took a little longer than usual to get from Point A to Point B. Perhaps it was simple luck. Occasionally, the brunet thought he would have made an excellent boy scout...if he could handle all the other noisy kids. Actually, now that he thought about it, Xan was glad most of his powers hadn't really started kicking in till he got older.
If Xan were honest with himself, he would have happily gone on pretending he was one hundred percent human. It was only the manifestations of his powers that forced him to have to research and learn to control them. Ignorance is bliss, after all.
“I like to do normal things. See movies, sleep in as much as possible—though today, I had trouble with that, hence the coffee at 8am—drive fast, play video games—you know, the usual. I saw Prince of Persia a couple of weeks back. I know the reviews for it weren't exactly stellar but I thought it was a kickass movie. The fight scenes were awesome. And the relationship between the three brothers was really cool too. It was a fun movie. Made me want to take up parkour. How about yourself?”
Not many people knew what parkour was. If Jia somehow did, he would have been highly impressed. Xan had always thought it was an interesting concept, unusual but it looked like fun. Back in high school, he only knew of one other person who actually knew what it was. He had a feeling though, that the video game, Mirror's Edge, helped illuminate the masses as to what parkour was. It was slowly becoming more and more popular over the years.
“If you're busy or you have somewhere to be, I'm sure I can find my way.” He really, really loathed asking for help. Even accepting when it was pro-offered was still hard as well. Jia had made it seem like she didn't mind, and she probably didn't, but he didn't like needing help. And well, how lost could he possibly get on campus? “Besides, how many students actually go to the library on a Sunday morning when there are surely better things to be doing?”
