Xan's blue eyes lightened, taking on a hint of green colour. “It's a motorcycle; Yamaha FZ1. A couple years old but it still rides like a dream. Deep metallic red, lightweight, in-line four-cylinder engine, fully adjustable suspension...” Like any other typical guy, he had a thing for fast vehicles, and probably could have talked Jia's ear off about it. "If you're ever up for it, I'll take you for a spin. I'm a careful driver when I've got someone with me," he assured her.
Six-speed transmission, high-efficiency curved radiator featuring compact dual ring-type fans for maximum cooling efficiency, an eighteen-litre fuel tank designed with a slim body for better knee grip, a low-maintenance battery, one-piece instrumentation detailing an analog tachometer, digital speedometer, dual tripmeters, fuel gauge, clock and outside air temperature; Xan could have rattled off practically every detail about his ride. He had a sneaking suspicion that motorcycles weren't really Jia's thing though. Most vehicles, in general, weren't exactly pro-environment.
“So you're not working right now? Racking up the student loans?” he made a face, showing his opinion on the costs of education. The brunet was still on the hunt for a job. He had been thinking about applying to one of the car shops in Manchester, or possibly looking into work as a doorman at a bar or pub. He figured the car shop would be more fun and something he'd be good at but the pub/bar would have better hours for his school work and classes. Most places tended to close around 2 or 3 am so he wouldn't have to worry about being late for classes unless he overslept.
“Right now I'm only taking Xenobiology, Chemistry, Physics and Astronomy, and Biology. Mostly the 100-level courses. Why not have a little fun in the summer sun, you know? In the Fall, I'll probably take up Appreciating Paranormal Diversity or Intersecting Magic and Technologies. My major doesn't exactly have anything to do with the supernatural but I came to Alden to enlighten myself on the different races in the world."
"You know, I didn't even know vampires, demi-gods, centaurs and other supernatural beings existed until I was eighteen. It's funny how sometimes you can't even see what's right in front of your eyes. Maybe your entire life, the old man next door was a witch and you never knew. Or the kid down the block was a werewolf,” the Nephilim mused, chuckling lightly.
Glancing at the dryad and her food and drink, Xan finished off the last of his coffee and wondered if she was done with hers. “Do you want anything else?” he asked her. He wasn't certain how long they had been chatting but between the cafe's music and the slow but steady increase of customers, it was getting a little noisier and noisier by the minute. He wouldn't have minded getting another cup to go, and possibly exploring the campus while still talking to Jia.
“It's getting kind of busy in here. I'm not that big of a fan of crowds, but we could just walk around or something. Unless you have somewhere to be?”
