He wrinkled his nose and she raised a brow. He seemed familiar with the dishes she mentioned and he also seemed to dislike them. If his wrinkled nose was any indication, anyway. It brought a smile to her face as she thought he must think her a completely backward and utterly hillbilly hick for only knowing how to make those kinds of things. "For what it's worth, I make some pretty good fried chicken." She grinned again, then gestured toward the living room sofa. "Want to have a seat?"

She sat at one end of the couch, tucking her legs beneath her and pulling one of the throw pillows into her lap. She looked at him blankly for a minute. "You don't know what a television is?" She couldn't conceive of someone not knowing about TVs. "Then I guess you probably don't know about computers either, huh?" She shook her head. "Just how old are you, anyway?" She knew that vampires and dhampirs could age without ever looking any older. For all she knew, Desmond could be hundreds of years old. "And where have you been for the last hundred years since TVs have been around?"

"A TV isn't strictly necessary for dorm life, but it helps to pass the time." She paused a moment as she contemplated how to explain televisions. "A television is a box with a screen. It projects moving images for people to watch. I'm guessing you've never seen a motion picture, then, either?" She really wished she had a TV now because it would be cool to see him react to it.

"Oh man, you have missed out on a lot of stuff. Bowling is a game where you throw a heavy ball at some pins that are standing in a triangular pattern. The more you knock down, the better your score. And miniature golf is like regular golf except the course is much smaller, you only get one kind of club, a putter, and there are usually themes to each hole or course. Like at the end, you hit the ball into a big windmill or something." Having something to talk about was helping Danni forget what a fool she'd made of herself earlier.

"So are you a freshman, then? What courses are you taking? Are you taking summer courses? I got here early so I could start practicing with the gymnastics team. I'm not going to be taking any classes until fall, though. Do you have a major?" Now she was her usually chatty self. Once she got going, it was hard to get her to stop. Not only was she a curious person, but she had a natural bubbly nature.
