"I'm not totally sure about the story behind it. I just ended up on the orphanage's doorstep one day. Lucky I made it that far, I guess. I hear a lot of babies there end up in the trash." It was a horrible situation, but Dannika was infinitely grateful for the Americans who had adopted her.
Dannika listened to the vampire recite the poem and her smile grew larger and larger until she was grinning and her eyes were shining with excitement. Autumn really had a way about her and her voice turned syrupy and soothing when she spoke the melodic words. She wanted to clap, but thought that might break the spell. She didn't even want to speak, but she found herself whispering in a hushed tone. "Wow. You should like... do readings somewhere. I bet you could get the whole crowd to cry." She was truly awed by the poem and the power with which Autumn had recited it.
