"You and I share a similar lineage, boy. And that means you will have a talent similar to my own. The talent to hunt down those who took your love from you... Vampires." Another word D had never heard before. "They are the ones who killed everyone there... who tried to kill you. They are who you were born to hunt, born to destroy. They are monsters, without soul or redemption. But they are not something that the weak can fight, that the weak can hunt. If you agree to come with me, you must shed your weakness... you must sacrifice your humanity, to do what must be done. Will you join me?"

"My God... did you hear about mermaid that totally freaked? I hear that Hottie Grayson totally mauled her for it. This school gets fucking weirder every year that I go to it..."

Desmond blinked a little as he caught the bit of conversation just as he was heading into one of his classes. Desmond blinked as he processed what was said almost instantly, and felt a cold chill creeping over his body as he made his way through the halls to find a place that was devoid of sunlight so that he could breathe in slowly to test the air. He could smell Raina's blood on the wind, and it caused a slow growl to errupt from his throat. Grayson. Desmond would definitely be paying Mr. Grayson a visit later... but the first, and most important thing was Raina. He'd been keeping his distance from her for the past few weeks, but he knew that he couldn't avoid her forever...

And if she was hurt...

Swearing ancient curses under his breath he pushed his way out of the doors of the school, leaping down the stairs in a way that made the people around him blink and stare as he took off running towards the dormitories, but he didn't care. Raina was most likely there, if she was anywhere, she'd been spending a lot of time in that place, and so he would either find her there, or he would at least find the darkness in order to be able to track her better. For Grayson's sake, he sincerely hoped that she was relatively unharmed. Desmond was not in the best of moods lately, especially this time of year. It was, after all, only a few weeks until....

Shaking his head, he forced himself to think of other things as he entered her dorm room. As soon as he was out of the sunlight he could smell her right away. The aroma was slightly different now that he had claimed her innocence for himself, but it was as clear as day. Desmond sprinted up the stairwell rather easily until he got to her floor, making his way to her dorm room, pausing. Inside he heard something slamming against something else, and not thinking about it, he tried the door handle, which was unlocked, making his way inside, looking at her.

"Are you alright?" Desmond asked evenly, looking at her.
