It was a dream that had Raina wanting to leave campus for the night.

Lately, most of her dreams had been dark and she woke aching, both physically and emotionally. Her mind was tired from screaming and she felt like she was spinning out of control. Last night she'd found herself in the middle of the woods. Her heart had been racing as her eyes dated around through the mass of trees that surrounded her. She could hear leaves cracking underfoot as something took a spin around the shadows. She turned to try and catch a glimpse but she just barely saw the back end of whatever it was as it disappeared once more. "Who's there?" She called out, though she didn't expect an answer.

Turning, her feet kicked up dirt as she started to run through the woods. Her body bumped into the thick tree trunks and she could feel the bruises appearing on her body. But she couldn't stop. Heart thumping, she continued to run as the creature, or whatever it was, got closer and closer to her. She head towards a clearing when the creature on her tail snagged her foot. Raina fell to the ground, feeling the dirt staining her face. Flipping herself on her back, she prepared for an attack but nothing was there. Out of breath, her eyes darted around the circle of the clearing. As she did, the trees around her started to grow crookedly, wickedly. The branches bent like fingers reaching for her menacingly.

She screamed and backed up until she could get to her feet. No sooner had she taken a step away from the reaching fingers then they had gripped her. They wrapped around her, pinning her arms at her sides as they roped around her waist. The other ones started to claw at her violently, like an animal tearing her flesh into ribbons. Blood dripped from her body until she woke up violently. Drenched in sweat, sheets tangled around her body, it took almost fifteen minutes to pull herself together and realize she'd been only dreaming. And they had been getting worse every night.

This last one had felt so real that when her eyes laid on the clock and she'd realized that she had slept all day, she decided there was really only one thing that she could do to calm the thoughts of blood and destruction.

And that was alcohol.

With a bottle of jack daniels shoved in her bag, she threw on a skirt (in the chance that she wanted to get in the water) and a tank top, followed by a pair of slip on flats. Then Raina was out the door. She didn't want to be there right now. All she wanted to feel was numb. She had been hoping that, much like what most people told her, the ache would lessen with time. She had been all but hoping that one day she would wake up and it would hurt less, even just a tiny bit, but she'd had no luck with that. Every morning hurt just as badly. What if she never recovered? She didn't want to be reckless, but she didn't want to be in pain. So she didn't waste any time getting down to the pond. Stopping beside the water, Raina sat down and pulled out the bottle of whiskey. It started with a few shots. The burning in her throat as she swallowed each shot helped, but she wanted more, needed more.

She wasn't sure how much time passed by a quarter of the bottle down, Raina was laying back on the ground, staring at the sky. She hummed to herself as she twisted the bottle open again and held it against her lips to take another sip. Her cheeks were flushed with the taste, eyes watery from the buzz.

This was definitely helping.

"Fuck no I'm not subtle. Subtlety is for pussies." Jack said with a shake of his head. "Why bother hiding what you're thinking when you can just man up and say it. I mean, yeah, sometimes someone's panties gets in a bunch over it, but, fuck them. Life is full of horrific shit, and if you can't fucking handle it, then get the fuck out, I say. Or take up drinking or shit." He rolled his eyes at that one and then eyed the bottle. "But yeah, if you're looking for Mr. Roger's Neighborhood, I'm afraid you've come to the wrong address. This is more like Pee Wee's playhouse, and by that I mean expect public indecency." Jack said with something of a snort as he leaned back and looked at the sky.

As she wobbled towards him he couldn't help but appreciate the swaying view, but didn't really do anything to try to help her sit down except snicker a bit at how hard it seemed to be for her. "Careful there..." he said, and then chuckled as the first thing she did was tug her skirt into place. "Ah, no twisted Japanese up skirt action for me eh? Figures."

"Who says you're not the girl I'm trying to get drunk..." he said, handing her the bottle. "Careful though, I can hold my liquor waaay better than most. You don't want to take more than a sip of that or you're going to be stone cold out of it and I don't really feel like carrying you back to the dorms..." Jack muttered somewhat honestly.

"But to answer your question... guys get drunk for all sorts of reasons. When they're having girl trouble, when they're trying to get a girl drunk, when they just don't want to give a shit about life anymore, when they wake up from an erotic dream about their dead ex girlfriends, or, when they're like me, and just are a fucking alcoholic awesome son of a bitch." Jack said with a smirk.

"So you going to open up party girl, or just do something crazy? Truth or Dare?" Jack said with a lopsided grin.

The comments about this Bieber guy made her curious about the last time she had listened to music. For awhile, she had listened to a lot of classical music. It only seemed to fit her day dreams and her thoughts of Desmond when he came around. And it made sense to her that she would stop listening to it now that she was trying to get her mind off of him. She did wonder, however, if he did for her what he had done for Beth. Was he watching over her? Was he in the shadows now wondering whether he should intervene and make her stop before she got herself into a horribly precarious situation?

She looked out into the surrounding darkness. There were plenty of places to hide and it wasn't like the dhampir would exactly need somewhere special to stay hidden. He could do that any time he decided he wanted to. What caught her off guard was her feelings about it, if he were out there, that is. If he was, would she like it? Would she feel protected? No. Turns out the thought of him in the shadows keeping a watchful eye on her only angered her. How could he say he didn't want to hurt her when the whole push away thing was what broke her? If he was watching her like he watched Beth, she felt like she would scream.

She was not Beth, and she didn't want to be treated like her. Raina knew well that she could take care of herself. The last thing she wanted to be seen as was a girl who couldn't take handle herself. She was hardly a farm girl. With that pushing through her, she decided to (at least for one night) stop feeling sorry for herself. Even if it didn't change anything inside, at least the world wouldn't look at her like she was completely dead.

Picking at a blade of grass beside her, she smirked, "I uh, kind of love the Terminator movies. That probably makes me completely lame but T2 is probably one of my favorite movies." Among other less cool titles, of course. She was, after all, a girl and as such entitled to liking sappy romantic comedies. He mentioned not wanting to talk about that Suzy person so she just nodded. Raina wasn't about to pry into something that was none of her business, especially if the person who's business it really was didn't want to talk about it.

Leaning over, Raina covered her face in his shoulder when he laughed out loud and cursed. The blush just darkened a little and she shook her head, "I couldn't just--curse out loud like that. What if someone heard me?"

It was nice to listen to him talking though because he was completely honest. Raina nodded, pink strands falling in front of her face. "Well I don't know about legend status but I do know who you are before meeting you. Most of the girls I have class with are always talking about how--well," Stop being a prude, Raina. Grow up, she hissed at herself. She decided to take a page out of his book and be completely honest. "how curious they are about how--big--you may be." She perked a brow and then looked back at her knees and picked some dirt from the front of her skirt. "Maybe you are more of a legend then I thought."

Raina thanked him when he said she was hot and what he'd like her to be doing. Blushing again, she shook her head, "I'm uh--not exactly experienced in that area. Like, at all."

There were many things that old Raina would do right now. She would have probably been a little prude about the things that he said. She would have probably giggled and walked away, shaking her ass a little because she really did like the attention, even if she hadn't found someone she wanted to give her virginity to. And that was one of the biggest things that had changed about her lately. Biting her bottom lip, she held her hand out for the bottle and decided to just go for it. "Considering that your reputation precedes you, I'm pretty sure if I pick dare, you'll somehow get me out of my shirt so at least until I'm a little more wasted, let's go with truth." That may not have been the best choice either though.
