Raina Maris. ([info]raina_maris) wrote in [info]manchester_rpg,
He had a point, possibly the most amazing and incredible point that she had ever heard one person utter to another one. The words were so simple that she could only wonder why it was that she hadn't thought it before. What did most things matter when you already knew what real pain felt like? It wasn't as though hearing someone tell you to screw off would make any kind of difference in the grand scheme of things, especially not when that slight disappointment barely measured up to real heart ache.

She did wonder what the "worst thing" was that he spoke of. There were some simple things that she could think but the way he looked in that moment, well she just wondered how bad something would have to be to be considered the "worst" thing. But that didn't look like something he cared to share more about and who was she to push him to tell her. It was his life and in the end, if she hadn't wanted to talk about what had happened with Desmond, she could have easily not spoken about it. Something deep inside of her had wanted to share that night with someone. Her heart craved the comforting words of her mother but that wasn't something she could have yet. So, in her mind, someone who was practically a stranger on her drunken bender was just as good.

She shrugged as he started to speak of blood lust. "I'll admit, I don't understand it. If you can assure that blood will always be around, why would that make a difference? He wouldn't end up starving for blood, and that dark side wouldn't come out if you could take certain precautions. It seems to me that being alone is a horrible way to spend an eternity." That was surely saying a mouthful. Though his comment about what might have happened as if Beth hadn't been stabbed thickened a knot in her stomach. One of the first thoughts she had was that it would make a lot of sense as to why it wasn't campus wide news. The other thought is the one she shared out loud, "He wouldn't do that."

Shaking her head, Raina knew she was speaking the truth. "He was so torn up that she'd been hurt that if he had been the one to do the hurting, he probably would have killed himself." While she knew that when the craving came out and the dhampir attached to it's animal side, a dhampir could not control the happenings. But that certainly did not mean they didn't remember what happened. And if Desmond had hurt Beth, he wouldn't have been able to live with himself. And she knew somewhere that was also something he was attempting to keep from happening to herself. She simply felt it was her decision to make. He left her to keep her safe. She would have stayed, despite the risk.

Wetting her lips, Raina forced those thoughts out of her head and looked over at him. Unsure if this was her dare, or if she simply couldn't wait until after the dare to speak, she turned and scooted her knees under her so she rest back on them. Emerald eyes shone with the prospect of what she found to be a great idea. Long fingers rest on his wrist as she spoke. "Teach me to be like you." With those tall walls up, there's no way that she would hurt like this again and really, that's all a girl could ask for. "Mentor me. Show me how to act and what to say." It was the best idea she'd ever had, and only partially thanked the alcohol for that. She squeezed his wrist a little before letting go. "I'll do anything you say. Anything. Just so I don't ever feel this way, ever again."
