Danni had convinced her parents that it was a good idea to let her to go Alden directly after graduation so that she could look for a job and get familiar with the campus. She'd promised to start her education early by taking summer courses and getting started with the gymnastics team. She'd met with the coach already and he'd said that practices wouldn't start for at least another week, so she'd been left to her own devices.
Keeping active was important to the small girl and so she'd decided that a run was in order. She had put on a pair of skintight spandex shorts and a sports bra and headed for the track. No one else seemed to be using it so she'd put on her iPod, turned the music to Passion Pit, and begun to run. She ran with her head down most of the time, watching her feet take their long strides, watching the way her shoes flexed with each step.
With the music loud in her ears and her head down she hadn't even seen the other person come onto the track. Not until she ran smack into her, anyway. She fell backward from the impact and landed on her ass. It took her a second to realize what had happened and then she was looking up at a girl a little taller than herself. She accepted the help up, pulling the earbuds out of her ears and shaking her head. "I'm fine." She rubbed one hand on her butt, dusting it off and trying to make it not hurt as much at the same time.
"What about you? Any damage?" She wrinkled her nose. "Guess I shoulda been looking where I was going." She gave a crooked smile and shrugged.
