"Hmm, the spotlight is like any blade, in the hands of the clumsy it can easily cut you, but when wielded properly it can be a deadly weapon." Desmond said with a nod, wondering how true it was that he should say that to Maya. There was something about her that didn't quite click right, and it would take his next move to really line things up in his mind as to what that happened to be.
At her reaction to his mesmerism he raised an eyebrow lightly. She resisted him, which caused his guard to instantly go up. She wasn't some mortal creature that was trying to pay him compliments... the only way to resist such an action was through intense training and concentration, or by a natural gift that would make her immune to such things, either of which seemed suspect as to what her objective was. A shame too, he had been hoping that she would have let it slip from those pretty little lips of hers. But there was still time to flirt and get it out of her.
When her knee touched his he lightly let his fingertips linger on it again, looking at hers as he slid his hand up, but only an inch or two, hinting at potentially something while being discrete enough that it could have been anything, his dark eyebrows raising slowly. "And what sort of... heat... is it that you desire, Maya?" he asked softly, leaning in a little.
"Books keep me up at night, as well as plays. And music. I have a weakness for the modern operas... no, that is not right... Musicals, I believe you call them." Desmond said with a light nod. "Though I have to say that talking to a woman as lovely as yourself has been a rare and wonderful treat..."
