Everything buzzed around her until she couldn't think clearly. Her breath caught in her throat and it almost hurt to take that deep breath. "Just because you aren't with her doesn't mean this couldn't work. Like you said, you've lived lifetimes and will probably go on to live many more. What is the point of all those years if you can't be with someone?" She felt slightly foolish now. How could she have said those things to him? Sure she had felt that immediate connection to him but she hadn't thought much of things on his end. "Who is to say this wasn't meant to happen in the grand scheme of things?"
The red painted her cheeks as she moved herself off of the bed. His plea not to make it any harder felt like a knife in her chest, but what was she supposed to say now? That short amount of time they spent together that had been the catalyst for her feelings were 'all but nothing' compared to the years he'd spend wandering the Earth. "You want me to just turn around and walk away from you?" It wasn't completely a question, but it wasn't a statement either. She stared at him for a few moments and finally averted her gaze to the ground. "What am I supposed to say to that? She gets attacked and you leave me." There was nothing to say.
Raina tugged on her sweater, wishing she'd worn something that covered more, something baggier. A pretty dress was the last thing she wanted to be wearing. Her hand lifted to wipe over her cheek. There were no other words to be had. How could she make him want something if he didn't? She nodded and let her hands fall to her side. This could be real and he was content leaving it to the allure of first love. What happened if years past and this was still there? Would she just have to accept life without him? It seemed like it. Reaching in, she touched her hand to the side of his face. It probably wouldn't be the last thing she saw him but she wanted to have something to remember, to look back on. The eyes that had attracted her first were still the same. She took a breath and then moved. Now she just wanted to go down to the pond. The door was left slightly open as she stole out of his room, arms crossed over her chest, holding onto herself.
