“Yes, Raggs is my only sibling, sad to say”, Whip sighed, his lip quivering just a bit, “Father left with some other males to battle a clan of ogres that had settled in uncomfortably close”, the young pixie shook his head, “He never came back”. Looking up at Marie, with unshed tears in his sapphire-blue eyes, Whip explained, “Mother would never bond with another male or birth anymore children”.
Whipper chewed his lower lip for a moment, but then his frown melted into a smile and he asked, cheerily, “So, how’s your sushi, Marie? My salmon is divine!”, he took a big bite and chewed to demonstrate.
When Marie pointed out that she wasn’t a Mermaid, Whip giggled and replied, “Well, of course you’re not! You do swim under the sea though…but I see why you might not like the reference!”, he folded his arms defiantly, “People are always trying to call me a faery! Faeries and Pixies are not the same!”. Then his nose twitched and he took another bite of his food, “Ahhhhh, this salmon really is lovely!”
“Oh, you caught me; I’m not a Yank at all. I’m pure Irish Pixie! Me blood is even green!”, he teased. He looked curiously at Marie, “You’re not a bit Irish yourself?”, he asked, “Our Aran Islands are home to many selkies, you know?”.
